I have over 25 years of experience planning and operating in a cultural and community context and collaboratively developing and delivering multi-partner programmes. I have worked in senior executive, non-executive, and advisory roles for cultural, heritage, and environmental charities and companies, including museums, professional development, membership, heritage preservation, and strategic bodies.
My principal consultancy work is with Tricolor Associates.
As Director of Development for Birmingham Museums (2013-23), I led fundraising of over £20m and collaborated with multiple partners, including Birmingham City Council, Arts Council England, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Local Economic Partnership (GBSLEP), Historic England, community organisations, corporate sponsors, trusts and foundations, and universities.
My experience includes business planning, governance, fundraising, and development and delivery of projects and programmes to enable cultural organisations and charities of all sizes to deliver public benefits, embed learning, and support future resilience.
I understand the complexities of managing land and buildings to benefit local communities and visitors. I also understand the challenges of managing the expectations of multiple stakeholders and working within an ever-evolving economic, social, and political context.
I have a strong track record of supporting people and organisations to flourish as a manager, colleague, advisor and mentor. I have engaged in formal mentorship roles with the Museums Association, Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy, the Institute of Fundraising RAISE programme, and as a Museum Accreditation Mentor.
I am based on the Herefordshire/ Shropshire/ Worcestershire borders, in reach of several mainline stations with easy access to Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool, London and Manchester (etc).
